Driver Behavior Monitoring Blind Spot Detection
Background
Every day, more than 200,000 employees rely on Samsung Electronics’ vast commute bus network to get to and from work across its campuses in South Korea. Operating over 2,000 buses across urban and industrial zones, the company faced growing concerns around driver attentiveness, red-light violations, and pedestrian collisions—especially in blind spots during peak hours.
Despite its scale and efficiency, Samsung recognized the limits of traditional vehicle monitoring systems. To truly protect its people, the company needed real-time insights, behavioral data, and proactive safety alerts that could evolve with traffic complexity and operational demands.
That’s why Samsung partnered with AIMatics to install the Roadscope 9 – 5CH Vision AI System across its fleet. This advanced system integrates front, driver-facing, cabin, and dual side cameras powered by AI algorithms—delivering immediate feedback to drivers and actionable intelligence to fleet managers.

Challenge
As Samsung Electronics operates one of the largest commute bus fleets in South Korea, managing thousands of professional drivers across multiple sites presented increasing safety and operational challenges.
The company needed a system that could not only improve driver behavior and reduce pedestrian accidents in blind spots, but also enable immediate incident detection and centralized response.
A traditional dashcam or passive monitoring setup was no longer enough. Samsung required an intelligent, integrated fleet management and monitoring solution—one that could provide real-time visibility, proactive alerts, and data-driven insights across its entire transportation network.
Solution
Samsung Electronics installed AIMatics’ Roadscope 9 – 5CH Vision AI System across more than 2,000 commute buses.
The system integrates:
Front-facing camera for road condition and event detection
Driver-facing camera for fatigue, phone usage, and behavior alerts
Cabin camera for internal incident recording
Dual side cameras (left & right) for blind spot and pedestrian monitoring
This all-in-one AI-powered solution continuously monitors and analyzes driver and vehicle behavior, delivering actionable insights and real-time alerts to fleet managers.
Results
Since implementing AIMatics’ Roadscope 9 Vision AI system across its fleet, Samsung Electronics has seen measurable improvements in both driver performance and overall fleet safety.
Within months, red light violations dropped by 41%, and inattentive driving incidents—such as drowsiness, phone use, and distracted behavior—were reduced by an impressive 71%. These behavioral improvements were also reflected in a 74% increase in driver scoring, based on AIMatics’ real-time analysis model.
Perhaps most notably, the enhanced visibility and accountability provided by the system led to a 68% reduction in insurance premiums, translating to a total savings of over $2.6 million USD across 2,400 buses.
For Samsung, the system delivered not only a safer commute for its employees, but also a clear financial return—making AI-powered safety a smart operational investment.
“With AIMatics’ intelligent monitoring system, we’ve gained full visibility and control over our fleet’s safety. This solution is now a core part of how we protect our people.”
