Blind-spot detection driver behavior monitoring API service integration
Background
Jones Bros Construction faced growing challenges in safety and efficiency due to the scale and complexity of large construction projects. Frequent risks such as blind-spot accidents, unsafe driving behaviors, and gaps in equipment monitoring created persistent management issues.
To address these, the company adopted A.I.Matics’ Vision AI multi-channel safety and efficiency solution.
Solution
Jones Bros deployed A.I.Matics’ Roadscope 9 (5-channel) solution with API integration to manage heavy equipment more effectively and meet the demands of large-scale projects.
The system uses multiple cameras (front, driver monitoring, cabin, left, and right) to monitor blind spots and driver behavior in real time. Data is collected and uploaded to the cloud for analysis and integration, improving operational oversight.
Leveraging A.I.Matics’ AATS (Automatic AI Training System), models are continuously updated with on-site data, enabling rapid performance improvements via seamless OTA updates. This allows Jones Bros to move beyond basic monitoring and establish AI-driven predictive safety management and operational optimization.
Results
The solution delivered significant improvements for Jones Bros Construction:
Key data captured: traffic lights, road signs, and site-specific road conditions, expanding the dataset for global AI learning assets.
Operational efficiency gains: AATS automatically retrained models with site data, delivering immediate improvements. OTA updates enhanced safety while cutting downtime and costs.
Scalable deployment: Following a successful pilot on 200 machines, Jones Bros confirmed improved monitoring and began expanding to 300 additional units in June 2024, with full fleet-wide adoption planned by late 2025.
Jones Bros has strengthened safety and efficiency in heavy equipment operations and is now positioned as a leader in AI-driven equipment management across the North American construction industry.
