[Seoul = Newsis] Reporter Kim Kyung-bae – Uninest subsidiary A.I.Matics, a company specializing in AI-based video recognition and driver monitoring technology, announced on April 11 that it has obtained a Mobile Virtual Network Operator (MVNO) license from the Ministry of Science and ICT.
According to the company, A.I.Matics plans to leverage its proprietary AI-powered video telematics service, aid, to provide advanced connectivity services. The platform collects vehicle operation data and road environment information, then processes and analyzes it to deliver optimized connectivity solutions to customers.
Through this service, A.I.Matics aims to support accident prevention and efficient fleet management by analyzing risky driving behaviors identified by the Korea Transportation Safety Authority’s 11 major accident risk indicators.
With its proprietary AI algorithms, the aid platform delivers six key driver monitoring and fleet management features, enabling safer and more economical fleet operations. It also helps reduce fuel consumption, maintenance costs, and insurance expenses while supporting overall operational efficiency.
However, since MVNO services typically require leasing telecom networks, A.I.Matics noted that existing operators’ wholesale pricing structures could limit competitiveness in terms of data quality, service usage, and overall costs.
To address this, the company intends to provide tailored connectivity packages optimized for video telematics, offering customers differentiated plans designed for AI-driven mobility solutions.
An A.I.Matics spokesperson said, “With this license, we can now independently operate as an MVNO and deliver customized connectivity services optimized for AI video telematics. This strengthens our ability to provide customers with safer and more reliable fleet management solutions, and ultimately supports our goal of becoming a global leader in AI-based telematics.”
