[Prime Economy] Namuga (190510) announced on the 25th that it is launching its AI business in earnest in collaboration with its affiliate, the Vision AI solutions company A.I.Matics.

To maximize business synergy, Namuga secured an equity stake in A.I.Matics last year through a third-party allotment of paid-in capital. This has improved its access to cutting-edge AI vision technology, which it plans to actively embed into its 3D sensing solutions, thereby boosting its overall technological competitiveness.

Recognizing the rapid rise of AI’s importance across industries, Namuga has concluded that combining its 3D sensing hardware expertise with AI-based software capabilities is now essential.

A.I.Matics is a leading developer of Vision AI technology, with unique strengths and commercialization experience in AI-powered driver safety platforms and video recognition. By combining Namuga’s hardware and A.I.Matics’ software expertise, the two companies are accelerating both AI-driven manufacturing automation and the pace of new business development.

Currently, the key joint projects underway include:

  • Building an IOPM (In-Out Process Monitoring System) that enables production managers to monitor manufacturing processes anytime, anywhere via mobile devices.

  • Developing an AI-powered visual inspection system for exterior defects.

  • Commercializing an AI-based Smart Access System (SAS) for intelligent entry control.

First, the IOPM system is designed to detect abnormalities at every stage of the production line and deliver alerts in real time to mobile devices. If anomalies or rising defect rates are detected, it immediately issues warnings and leverages AI algorithms to analyze root causes and propose countermeasures. With deep learning applied, the system can even anticipate risks and enable preventive actions.

Phase one—linking all factory equipment to the cloud—has already been completed. Phase two, applying real-time monitoring and AI deep learning, is now under development. The full system is scheduled for completion by October this year, with a live demonstration planned for the upcoming Namuga Tech Day.

The AI visual inspection system automates what was previously a manual inspection task. AI analyzes products from the production line to automatically detect defects, foreign materials, and shape mismatches. This significantly reduces manpower requirements while ensuring standardized, reliable test results.

By integrating with the IOPM system, real-time quality data can also be transmitted, simultaneously reducing manufacturing costs and improving quality.

Namuga also unveiled plans to build a next-generation security solution through the SAS project, focused on convenience and privacy protection enabled by Vision AI. Its multi-camera modules, powered by advanced AI algorithms, not only perform facial recognition but also analyze entrant behavior in real time to block identity spoofing or unauthorized access attempts.

In particular, Namuga differentiates itself by applying hyperspectral sensor technology from Belgium’s Spectricity, enabling recognition not only of facial structure but also of skin tone—offering far more precise authentication and security performance compared with other face recognition solutions.

Each biometric device is integrated under a unified access control platform. With commercialization targeted for the first half of next year, Namuga and A.I.Matics are accelerating business development based on collaboration with Spectricity to lead the evolving physical security and identity verification market.

Through this partnership, Namuga is expanding beyond its traditional role as a camera module manufacturer into becoming an AI specialist enterprise that combines smart sensing technology with AI-driven data analysis. Looking forward, the company plans to extend its technology to logistics, smart cities, and biomedical devices, pioneering new market opportunities.

Namuga CEO Dong-Ho Lee stated: “Our partnership with A.I.Matics marks the starting point for building next-generation AI vision systems that integrate hardware and software. Beyond smart factory automation, we aim to establish AI infrastructure that can be applied across a wide range of industries and strengthen our position as a global AI specialist.”
