At KINTEX in Ilsan, the 6th Korea Defense Industry Exhibition (DX KOREA) featured AI-based safe driving solutions.
AI video analysis specialist AIMATICS showcased its solution designed for large vehicles such as trucks and buses, capable of detecting dangerous driving behaviors and alerting drivers in real time.
When AI detects a risky driving situation, the information is transmitted to a control platform. Managers can view the recorded footage and identify the cause of the dangerous behavior. The collected data provides insights into driver behavior, allowing it to be used for retraining and improving driving practices.
The solution consists of AI processors, front and rear cameras, in-cabin cameras, driver displays, and telematics devices. These components collect and process data to detect risky driving. If necessary, the system can also provide collision footage through front and rear cameras.
An AIMATICS official explained, “All of our hardware and software are developed in-house, allowing us to offer customized solutions. The system can transmit alerts to managers or communicate directly with the driver when abnormal behaviors are detected.”
Additionally, the Korea Transportation Safety Authority is conducting a pilot project on 50 city buses in Busan, with plans to expand testing to 500 buses nationwide to verify its effectiveness.
A company representative emphasized that interest from both public and private visitors at the defense exhibition highlighted the growing demand for such AI-based monitoring technologies, especially in the defense sector.
Meanwhile, DX KOREA 2024 took place at KINTEX Exhibition Center 2 from September 25 to 28.
