A.I.MATICS, a company specializing in AI-powered video analytics, announced on October 26 that it is accelerating its efforts to realize autonomous factories by applying industry-specific AI technologies proven in vehicles to automate quality inspection and manufacturing operations. The company aims to create manufacturing environments where AI can independently perceive and assess on-site conditions, make decisions, and execute tasks.
According to the company, A.I.MATICS has developed its proprietary AI engine, aimNet, which detects driver drowsiness and mobile phone use in real time and has been deployed in more than 520,000 vehicles. The company has also adapted its lightweight AI technology, originally optimized for in-vehicle operation, for use in factory inspection equipment.
Its AI-powered visual inspection system, AIM-T1, is designed to enable faster adaptation to diverse manufacturing environments with relatively small amounts of training data.
While conventional visual inspection systems can take one to two days to train on large datasets, AIM-T1 aims to complete the entire process, from model training to on-site deployment, in less than one hour.
A.I.MATICS also provides IOPM (Intelligent Integrated Process Operations Management Platform), which enables real-time monitoring of manufacturing processes. By integrating AIM-T1 inspection results with IOPM, on-site managers can immediately identify the production processes where defects occur. The company is further enhancing IOPM's capabilities to analyze inspection data alongside production and equipment data, helping optimize manufacturing operations.
In June, A.I.MATICS established a subsidiary in Bac Ninh Province, Vietnam, where it locally assembles and manufactures equipment. This approach has shortened customers' equipment investment payback period to less than two years. In the second half of 2027, the company plans to leverage Vietnam as a manufacturing hub to expand into North American markets, including Canada and Mexico.
Lee Hoon, CEO of A.I.MATICS, said, "AI transformation in manufacturing begins with inspection systems that detect defects and anomalies and evolves into autonomous operations capable of making decisions and executing tasks. By combining our proven automotive AI capabilities with real-world manufacturing data, we aim to develop a world model that can independently understand industrial environments by 2028."
